Adding this post to WEEKEND NATURE at Gemma's Grayscale Blog. The plants casting the shadows are called Alligator Flags. A sign at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary said to look for them if you're lost, because they grow where there's fresh water. Just one more piece of knowledge that we never want to put to good use.
When I wrote about Corkscrew earlier, a couple of people asked if we ever came across any scary creatures when we were out in our Florida swamps.
We did spot this guy on that walk. He was so little, he almost looked like a toy alligator.
But we are safe from creatures (except perhaps for the occasional biting insect). As the picture below illustrates, this walk is soft adventure.
Safe for all ages. Unless you accidentally run into that tree in the middle of the boardwalk!
The water might be fresh but you would want to be thirsty with it being so green and hosting alligators!!! They are beautiful plants though and it looks like a lovely place to walk.

Looks like fun to explore the swamp from the boardwalk. Funny how that tree is in the middle of it. Nice shadows of the Alligator Flags. :)

The shadows on the path in the fist shot are lovely. I do like swamps, but not necessarily with alligators in them.

Lovely shadows Sallie!
The little alligator is cute and I MIGHT feel safe up on that boardwalk. :)

That's my kind of exploring, when you have a boardwalk to follow! Super photos.

Beautiful shadows. It looks like a lovely place for a walk. I'm not sure I'd want to meet the alligator - he still looks pretty big to me! (I've never seen an alligator before; only the jaw of one in the museum of a dental hospital - and they definitely have big teeth!)

Lovely shadows - you certainly have to look out when there are trees about ;-)

Adore your "soft adventure" place! I imagine that there is always something exciting to discover there! Love the parade of shadows in the first shot!

I've never heard of alligator flags but they do make interesting shadows. I'm not as keen about the REAL alligator though. :)

Everything is green I guess the alligator could hide in those foliage. Happy Sunday!

Oooh the shadows in the first photo are very cool! I've never heard of Alligator Flags before but I sure like the shadow shapes they cast! Hey that alligator looks a little bit bigger than a toy to me! He's big enough that I'd jump with fright if I saw him on a walk! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Hey - great post - liked the part about the tree being in the middle of the walkway. I just got home after being gone for two weeks and trying to get my blog legs going. sandie

Nice dense Florida leaves.
I'm wondering if you took the alligator shot yourself.

All of this is so new to me. I've never seen alligator flags - or even heard of them. You are living in a whole new world - new to me, that is, - but I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
