THIS POST IS LINKED TO MELLOW YELLOW MONDAY.
AND MOSAIC MONDAY at Little Red House.
Yes, the University of Oregon Ducks, in the Pac-10 League, are unbeaten and are ranked as the #1 football team in the nation. It's kind of a big deal around here because Oregon hasn't been in this position for many years. The Ducks won their last home game of the season Friday night and play the final regular game next week against Oregon State University at Corvallis (the "Civil War"). OSU doesn't have as good a record, but it will surely still be a hard-fought battle. On our errand run to town the other day we took a detour to the UO Campus Bookstore. Bill watches football only occasionally and I'm not a fan at all, but in the Eugene area right now you'd pretty much have to be in a coma not to be a little excited about it.
Everything there is pretty much yellow and green.
Yay I love that sweater!!

My husband is a big PAC-10 football fan so it is nice to see a conference team at the top. Should be good games next week with the Civil War and the Apple Cup (Washington Huskies vs. Washington State Cougars) both being played. Great pic for MYM!

When Lisa and I went to the University, the Oregon teams weren't quite at the same level. We went to the Civil War game; a dreary afternoon where the Ducks fought the Beavers to a 4th quarter tie: zero-zero. Strangely enough, the bookstore sold very little Duck memorabilia that year. Now, every car in town has a sticker, and people here in Colorado just assume I'm a huge fan. Oh, and the Alumni organization is sending more mail these days.

Oh yes, lots of yellow (and green) - what a great detour to the campus store!

I kind of laugh thinking about a University picking the duck as their mascot. "Quack out Loud" LOL...quacking for you!

Good for the Ducks! I like an underdog (er...duck) to win!

All that green and yellow made me think of the Green Bay Packers and their green and gold. Good luck to your Oregon Ducks. College football fans are crazy-acting, aren't they? It's good fun though. I don't know much about college football, but understand that the Wisconsin Badgers are ranked quite high also. I'm all for the Ducks and Badgers.

Oh yeah -- I knew where you were as soon as I saw the colors (since I knew you were in Oregon). My dad is a Duck. I'm a Husky, though I spent my freshman year as a Cougar so I'm not purebred. I think nothing of changing allegiances at halftime during the UW-WSU game if the team I chose to root for isn't doing so well.

I love your Mellow Yellow tribute to the Oregon ducks. I'll bet all the yellow you are seeing in the area is very cheerful. Enjoy the craziness.

IN PRAISE OF YELLOW
Of all the colors under the sun
Yellow is the mellowest one.
Its hues are varied, if truth be told—
Cream and amber, and even gold.
Saffron’s considered a yellow hue,
So are lemon and bisque—buff too!
One mustn’t forget the lion’s mane—
Tawny and blond like Penny Lane.
And when full moons glow golden at night
They cast on earth a xanthic light.
Of all the colors under the sun,
Yellow, my friend, is the most fun!
