Snowbird resorts are busy active places and February is always the busiest month of the year. One of our friends at another park where we used to stay coined the term "Camp Sunset for Seniors" because she said all of the resort activities reminded her of summer camp, which she had loved as a child and now loved as a winter camp for "seniors". Most of the people who stay in these resorts are doing a good job staying as young and active as possible.
We have a lot of activities to choose from including (but not limited to): entertainment events, water and land aerobics, a workout room, yoga, pool tables, cards and board games, horseshoes, bocci ball, tennis, golf, shuffleboard, life writing classes, boating, camera club, dinners, wine tasting, parties (planned and impromptu) and, usually, more eating.
There is a high energy level here. In addition to the planned activities, you almost always see people out bicycling, walking, or playing games.
We don't do everything (because if we did, there wouldn't even be time to buy groceries), but we've done enough to keep us very busy -- our calendar had something on it pretty much every day last month. Here are just a couple.
The Boat Club had a poker run and here is our boat heading for the first stop. It's us and our friends Dave and Connie. All the boaters took at least one other couple; we finished with a lovely lunch here at the clubhouse and of course prizes were awarded to those luckier on the draw than we were.
And for something completely different:
There were over 30 couples and at 53 years we were definitely not among the longest-married. picture by Mary Ellen Finch

This was a lovely event and it was fun to see everyone in dress-up clothes (not the normal wear around here).
So those are just a couple of things that have kept us active this month. Sunset? It's just a beautiful sky to look at. All of us here at Upriver are still celebrating sunshine and more bright days ahead!
