Linking to MOSAIC MONDAY and OUR WORLD TUESDAY
Last week we traveled to Cape Harbour for a short urban get-away. This trip, we traveled by water instead of on the road. There were lots of things to celebrate. It was Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day, and our friends Don and Patty (in the other boat) were celebrating a Wedding Anniversary. Experiencing the Magic for sure!
Cape Harbour is a beautifully planned marina community on the edge of our neighboring city of Cape Coral Florida. It's a couple hours away from our canal cottage by boat... only half an hour or so by car. (Some of our other Upriver friends drove over to join us two boating couples for dinner on Tuesday night.)
The harbor is surrounded by condo buildings and a very walkable public area that includes good restaurants, tiki and coffee bars, an art gallery and shops. There's a swimming pool for marina residents (transients like us are always welcome to take full advantage of marina facilities). Some people spend the winter in their live-aboard boats and this marina has music on the "mall" some nights and other special events (open for everyone).
When I took the picture below, I was standing on one of the longer-term docks. Our two boats are tied at the transient dock for short-term guests. These slips also have water and electricity...and we were just steps away from everything else we could possibly need or want. (Well, on second thought, there's no grocery store, so food for eating on board needs to come with you.)
It was a good time. As Patty said "it's great to be able to take a long weekend in the middle of the week."
Thank you to Mary for hosting MOSAIC MONDAY and Jenn and team for OUR WORLD.
Where ever would I put all my pictures without these lovely sharing opportunities? And even more important, where ever would I see the wonderful ones that everybody else posts? Go see!
Magnificent views of the waterfront apartments etc.
Great to entertain on those balconies I would think of an
evening. Yeah, I think I could locate there for a couple of months each year, not in the hurricane season though.
You sent back your rain, not really needed here any more, pity you didn't send it to Victoria. The poor buggers are cooking down there and bushfires are still raging.
I think you better have a talk to the weather "gods" and tell them to get their geography right - ha ha! They don't listen to me!!!
Cheers

What a colorful balcony - that area looks so scenic. When we lived in MD and had a boat, we'd take excursions like you do. My husband misses the water. You had a lot to celebrate, Sallie!

Hazel, not real sure if people come back to blog comments, but if you do, thanks for putting up Benalmádena, Spain.
I used wonderful Wikipedia to see where this Benalmádena was. Very interesting indeed.
Never got to the Spanish province of Andalusia, a pity I now feel. There is a bit of a resemblance to Cape Harbour in Florida. Similar architecture, for sure. Maybe the old Spanish influence??? The southern states of the USA were prior to the War of Independence, either French or Spanish controlled. I think this is what makes the USA so interesting, after all, New York was once called New Amsterdam! That means the Dutch.
I only view 9 blogs of great interest, 4 Australia, 3 USA and 2 Canada.
This one of Sallie's is wonderful, full of great photos, interesting items on what she sees and gives a comment on.
I hope other viewers will look up Benalmádena, Spain.
Cheers

This looks so similar to where I live, Sallie! My sister-in-law from Holland told her husband when they visited from Holland, "If you live here you don't need vacation!" Can you see me laughing? It wish that were true:):)

Geeze...I have been gone so long from Palm Beach, that I do not even recognize these names. Let's see...I went off to college in 56 and finished in 59 and that was it for me. Then to GA, NA, and lastly VA. Love the pictures. I really do miss it when we have weather like we have been experiencing lately. genie
