Linking to FLORAL FRIDAY FOTOS and TODAY'S FLOWERS on Sunday
A bouquet of orchids, courtesy of neighbors who grow them outside every winter season.
Essentially, these are grown as outdoor houseplants.
They buy them as tiny starters and wire the pots to branches of their tree.
This is really taking advantage of living part of the year in a subtropical climate!
There are said to be wild orchids growing in this part of Florida, but we've never seen any. Maybe someday!
Thanks to Nick for FFF and Denise for Today's Flowers.
Interesting!

My sister-in-law grew orchids in her Boca Raton yard. Here they are houseplants that I can never get to bloom.

Really magnificent blooms.
I can't grow them, they die!
Rest of family and friends can???
Martha Z, if you are growing them indoors, not sure where you live, make sure they get early morning sun.
As they are tropical by nature, the tree canopies only let a certain amount of sun to them.
They can be slow to bloom, VERY SLOW, just have patience!
Something that I am devoid of, in the horticulture stakes and most others. Patience is a virtue that I regret to say I was not "Blessed" with.
Patience Martha Z, and you will get a bloom eventually.
Good luck - remember "Patience is a virtue, a virtue that I must strive to attain". The words of my college Physical Education instructor, 100 lines to be delivered to the College Director by 8.00pm.
And this does not fit onto one line, try writing it?
Oh this PE fellow was a sadist. You only got this once, then you jumped like a banshee when ordered to do some of the extreme exercises. No more slacking at the back rows of the class.
Cheers and "fond" memories of whoever that PC fellow was??
Cheers
Colin (Brisbane. Australia)
Weather: The storms are back - I wish the rain would go South where it is urgently needed. 3.30PM Thursday, 21st.Feb.

They are beautiful orchids. I would have thought they could only grow inside, even in Florida! Have you had some cold temps lately? Pretty photo, have a great day!

It's amazing what can grow in winter in the south. I'm so glad I'm back in the Deep South. Haven't tried growing orchids yet, but after seeing this I just might!

Hi Sallie, thank you for sharing your neighbor's orchids. Your photos are gorgeous! Wishing you a great week :)

Beautiful orchids!
I'd love to have some but when I look at how much they cost in the store I refrain for fear I'll kill them!
So much better to have neighbors who share. :)

Your orchids are splendid. Mine are at home, behind the window. One is in full bloom, one another will have flowers in a few days, the last one, the lazzy one, has... nothing; ! I like them !

Beautiful orchid. Hope you'd find time to visit my entry.

How beautiful! And to have them as outside plants...delightful! We have to use a green house here.

These are gorgeous, I never knew they could be grown outdoors. I know they would not live here in the winter!
