More mountain memories for SCENIC WEEKENDS. This Friday Flashback is to the beautiful state of Colorado (practically synonomous with the word "mountain"). Our youngest son and daughter-in-law live in this beautiful place and we love visiting!!
On this visit, Geoff took us four-wheeling up Webster Pass ( somewhere up above Denver).
Fields of beautiful wildflowers were blooming where the snow had only recently melted.
Oh -- and did I mention that these pictures were taken in August? Early spring up in these mountains!
Thanks to Gemma for hosting Scenic Weekends. (Visit the links for a virtual tour of beautiful spots around the world.)
Beautiful mountain scenery and the wildflowers are beautiful. I've seen wildflowers once - only! - like that and it's amazing how they grow next to snow.

Yay! One of my favorite places. I can usually get back up there when the snow melts enough in mid July. Can't wait.

Glorious, grand scenery! Breathtaking views of the mountains!
Re Anthony's Nose, it is simply the name of a place - with mountain side sharply falling to the sea and windy road round it! In the 19th century, the road was literally cut out of the mountain! The area is still prone to rock falls!

Spring in August? Wow. That scenery really is magnificent!

You've certainly captured the grandeur and vastness of the area. I wonder if it beats the English Lake District passes? They are very tricky because so much often changes in a small area...

These are simply gorgeous! Hubby and I visited Colorado Springs a couple of years ago and fell in love with the state. We thought of retiring there but that hasn't worked out yet. We have friends that have a cabin in Cuchara. Lucky you! With family you can visit often.

Delightful shots of Colorado. You captured both the mountain range and wildflowers so well.

Wow! I am a complete mountain baby and I love your shots of the place so much. I love the tranquil air that one finds in these places, a perfect place to spend some quality time in solitude.

I've never seen more beautiful wildflowers. Boy, would I like to see a field of flowers like that. Wish there would have been a photo of you on the 4-wheeler.
