Fall is definitely on its way as the grasses and some of the leaves around the Lake are turning color.
On my evening walks this month, I've seen quite a few herons, egrets and ducks on the wetland ponds just outside of the RV Park. The water is still very shallow, but the herons and egrets don't seem to mind that...it is probably easier for them to catch dinner.
We have quite a few mourning doves in the park. Back when we lived in Oregon, we never saw doves, but in the last couple of years they have moved in. (Our daughter called us in Florida one winter to tell us she'd seen the first one ever in their Oregon yard.)
The trees were full of redwing blackbirds one night.... we always have a few, but I think that day there must have been a huge flock migrating through. I've never seen (nor heard) so many at once.
Another way to tell that fall is here.... we are beginning to have geese parades past our window and occasional flyovers. Most of these geese don't migrate ... they will stay here all winter. But they still exhibit migrating behavior this time of year ... flying in Vs from one side of the Lake to the other and then back again at night. It's a short trip.
