We visited Harrod's, England's most famous and most elegant department store, on Knightsbridge near Piccadilly Circus. A little bit different from our usual shopping experience.
It's an enormous (full square block) eight-story Victorian Building that looks -- inside and out -- like no other department store we've ever seen. It has doormen at each entrance and three-hundred departments.
The food area is lushly lighted and decorated. Everything looks wonderful. There are rooms for vegetables, fish, meat, fruit, sweets, coffee and tea..... It's a very upscale grocery shopping area in the middle of an upscale department store. Places to eat are scattered all about. They include a coffee bar (we had a latte), tea shop, sushi bar, lunch counter (definitely not Woolworth's), wine cellar, and a chocolate room.
Everything is beautiful in there -- a shopper's Disneyland.

We browsed a bit in the housewares section and were actually asked "Are you being served?". Wish we could blog the posh British accent.
