Back in the dark ages, Bob Cratchit here and I shared an office cubicle. Eventually, the desktop computer came along and we all had to learn a new way of doing business. I worked in an educational office so we were "given" the opportunity to take classes to learn about all the new technology (meanwhile doing all our work the old-fashioned way).
It was great to have the computers and the opportunity to learn something new, but some classes went into depth most of us really didn't need.
I don't really understand how my car works (or my can opener for that matter) so why should I care about the computer hardware? Or software really as long as it does what I want it to. I'm just a user, that's all!
But the one acronym that stayed with me from back then is the title of this post -- because it can be applicable to so much of life in general. Most often, what you see is what you get.
But sometimes not. And I am thinking of this because I just realized that my blogposts look different on different computer monitors. (I thought the recent post on canal boats was perfect until I viewed it on my laptop. Oops)
As in life, so it is with posting -- what you see may be what you get, but sometimes you have to look at things from more than one angle to get the whole picture.
Isn't that the truth! What a cute post. Sandie

I enjoyed this post.... I check my web sites on different browsers but haven't thought to do that with my blog. I love the idea of living the way you do...great freedom, endless possibilities.

I love your pictures and blog - keep it up - some of us have roots too deep to do what you are doing.

I for one don't worry about the layout I just enjoy the photos and what everyone has to share. Just like I don't worry if my friends house is company ready I just go to visit her. Hope you have a great week.

Very true - as I am discovering whilst changing my blog layout! It depends how far you want to take it: there are two very useful (free) services that I used to try and solve this problem. One gives you screenshots of what your blog looks like with different browsers and the other gives you the statistics about readers' browsers and screen dimensions so you can then alter the layout to suit. (Let me know if you want the links!)

You are so right about this. On your blog I like the large print that comes through on your post (not here in the comment section). I would love to be able to make my font size bigger but it would probably effect the rest of the blog page. I love the cartoon of the lady at the computer. So funny.

Yup ... this is an ongoing problem for all bloggers. I use Mozilla (rather than Internet Explorer) at home, but at the Adult School IE is the default browser so I occasionally get to SEE what my posts look like from that perspective. I've given up trying to 'fix' them for both ... I can barely keep up as is. I just create, publish, and hope for the best ... and when visiting others I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, knowing they're doing their best too ;-)
Hugs and blessings,
