More pictures of our visit to Monticello (click on the link to read our other post). This post is also linked to SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY. hosted by Tracy at Hey Harriet.
Thomas Jefferson loved farming and his gardens at Monticello.
He was as passionate about growing things at Monticello as he was about his house and kept careful records of planting and harvesting.
So today those records have been used to re-create the gardens as nearly as possible.
The vegetables on the grounds now are grown as part of an heirloom seed bank project
I'm not sure if the flowers on the grounds are grown according to records left by Jefferson or not -- we forgot to ask. But they are beautiful.
Hi Sallie, This brings back wonderful memories of a day I spent in Monticello. The gardens were my favorite part of the place.

Hi Sallie, This brings back wonderful memories of a day I spent in Monticello. The gardens were my favorite part of the place. Even though it rained most of the day I spent the whole afternoon prowling the vegetable garden. Your posts and pictures make me want to go again.

What a lovely place - I enjoyed both posts! And to turn it into a heirloom seed bank is a lovely legacy and tribute.

We must get to Monticello for a visit. I can't believe all of the times we have headed South into Virginia for vacation we have not gone there. It looks so lovely and sounds like you have enjoyed it.
