This is the second part of our year-in-review with a reprise of our Summer/Fall road-trip. Thank you to the hosts of the weekend photoblog sharing sites that are so much fun to visit and join. SKYWATCH FRIDAY, WEEKEND REFLECTIONS, SHADOW-SHOT SUNDAY,(in the third picture-- and also in Part 1 of this review) and SCENIC SUNDAY. (Visit any or all of them and click on the links to enjoy scenery from all over our beautiful world.)
This year's Summer travels were different from the roadtrips we've taken over the past 10 years of our Full-Time life. This time, we were in our RoadTrek, instead of pulling our house behind us. Before, with the Fifth-Wheel, we were "travelers" -- living in the RV just as we would live in a regular house (but with new views out our picture window). The RoadTrek was more like camping. (Back to our roots -- although with a more comfortable bed than we used to have when we tent-camped many years ago.)
The camper van was a great choice for exploring the East Coast. Many campgrounds in this part of the country are older with smaller spaces. We were able to stay wherever we wanted without worrying at all about whether we'd fit! So we could concentrate on beautiful scenery and picturesque seacoast towns.
We visited many historical sites, learning (or re-learning) the easy way.
We stayed in 14 different States -- nine of them were new for us.
After three months on the road it was great to spend time with family and friends -- and the birds -- on the No-Lake in Oregon. (We plan to visit Fern Ridge again next summer when water actually covers those stumps!)
Another good year living the Full-Time Life ... on the Atlantic Coast and the Pacific and points in between.
so many wonderful sights!!
beautiful photos
Happy New Year lady :)

One of the nice aspects of the blogging, it allows us to look back on the year, where we were and what we were thinking (at least what we were willing to share).

Oh Sallie, I've traveled most of the USA, and still my hubby and I dream of one day doing a six-month road trip on "blue highways" (an autobiographical travelogue by William Least Heat-Moon I highly recommend). You're doing it... and I'm enjoying the ride along with you... HaPpY hApPy NeW yEaR to you and yours!

Wonderful, Sallie. I love the both-coasts idea, especially now that I live on the prairie. LOL
I like the idea of a camper van, but my husband isn't too impressed yet, although he allows it might be nice to travel with the dog instead of leaving her behind as we jet away somewhere.
Wishing you the very best in 2011.
