SHARED ON MELLOW YELLOW MONDAY, a meme for anyone who loves that bright and cheerful color. And for THAT'S MY WORLD -- go visit the links -- or join in.
This sign was posted near the parking area at Lakes Park when we went for a walk there a week ago today.
The 279-acre county park has miles of well-maintained walking trails around freshwater quarry lakes. There are playgrounds and concessions for families; fishing; wildlife; and birds. It's very accessible to the public, being within a few miles of downtown Fort Myers.
I'm not sure what the temperature was, but the wind was blowing hard. Florida just caught the tail end of the terrible snow storm "up North." It wasn't great walking weather, but....
...here's what inclement weather looked like in these parts:
This pelican and little blue heron were hanging out in spite of the wind chill:
So the park wasn't really closed due to inclement weather. The sign was on a water playground.
If open, Florida kids probably would have come down with pneumonia! Temperatures last week were getting down to near freezing in the early mornings.
But this week we have our Florida weather back! Sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. Warm wishes for the New Year.
What cool birds. I wonder how they fare when it gets so cold and they're not used to it...

Just look at the father/son all bundled up in hooded sweatshirts trying to stay warm. Your posts always have a delightful twist to them, making for a fun read.
Sallie, these days you may not spend a lot of time in a garden of your own, but you have shared sooooooo many wonderful gardens with us on your blog and I've enjoyed every single one of them.
Have fun in Florida. Stay well and keep blogging.

The weather sure is inconsistent this year/summer/winter. Florida and Arizona have had freezing cold days and we have had so much rain we are all going mouldy. We have just arrived back from our short trip to Victoria and our daughter's wedding.

That's funny, Sallie... reminds me of the time our flight from Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) was delayed by 10 hours due to bad weather in Ulaanbaatar, yet the sky was cloudless! Happy New Year!!

I have yet to encounter the little blue heron, I guess I would have to travel east for that. We make up for it with lots of great blues.

Your weather looks wonderful after all the snowscapes I have seen on other blogs ...but I must admit that the snowscapes look wonderful to me too as it never snows in my area of NZ.
Sending you warm wishes for the New Year from a sunny NZ.
