Beautiful in black and white. My brother-in-law volunteers at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. He would definitely love this photo!

I've lived in Colorado for 20 years, but I haven't yet ridden this railroad - I must fix that soon. Your photo is superb.

Crafty Green Poet

oh definitely, the romance of the old steam trains does suit b&w

Francisca

You made the right call, Sallie... the old train looks fab in b&w!

Dimple

This shot definitely calls for B/W! Nice shot.

Hope you are keeping away from the central heatwave.

Black and white is definitely the correct medium in my book. What a neat shot. I adore trains and wish they were still running like they were when I was a child. I lived in south Florida and rode the train to and from Atlanta to go to college at Emory. The idea of driving my own car never entered the mind. Loved the porters and my little bunk. This is a grand capture. Genie

Now that's a steam train; love it.

I agree with the B&W- my kids are playing a train game right now, so the timing is perfect.
