WEEKEND REFLECTIONS on the banks of the Long Tom River the weekend of the Oregon Country Fair. Visit the links on James' site for beautiful reflections from everywhere.
It was perfect weather. Not too hot, but sunny. In this picture, a representation of She Who Watches keeps an eye on the river bank. (The original of this petroglyph guards the Columbia River. The link will take you to one version of her legend.)
My what big eyes she has.. good for watching for those who misbehave. Thanks for the interesting history, Sallie.
hugs,
Pam

Glad you're enjoying some good weather, Sallie - not too hot, not too cold! (and the sun shining!) What a tranquil spot.

I like that canoe and, of course, the petroglyph. I imagine that the original is not in nearly as good condition.

Lovely photos and thanks for the link to She Who Watches. We'll be up that way in a few weeks and seeing her is one of my goals.

Like Francisca, I wanted to ask about the balloons!
Thanks for the link about She Who Watches, that was a very interesting story

Hi Sallie. I take it those are balloons that drifted over from the county fair...? They add to the natural reflections in this part of the river. Did you get into that canoe? Turning the chieftess with enlightened views into stone was not nice... But neither was the declaration, "Soon the world will change and women will no longer be chiefs."

Beautiful green photos. I also love your Million Dollar Highway in your previous post, I drove part of that once several years ago, and it was spectacular!

These are beautiful shots. Thanks for visiting my blog and to answer your question about what part of the country I'm in it's North Carolina (south east). Azaleas will grow to be enormous here but most people keep them pruned way back so it's unusual to see ones like mine.

Beautiful reflections Sallie...the more I read your posts the more jealous I get.
It's quite a lifestyle you have.
Take care...

Wonderful photos. I had never heard of this petroglyph or the legend that goes with it. Very interesting.
