Andy

You have some great photos posted today. If Cook were alive today he might also be impressed with some of the WILD weather we get.

Pearl Maple

Very pretty views and photos for a place with an unfortunate name.

Ebie

Another good laugh for your signs!

genie

I did not see this when I was out there...at least I do not think I saw it. What a fabulous coastline. Gorgeous. genie

Margot

I agree - everybody should visit. The Oregon coast is the prettiest along the Pacific. I think that was mean-spirited of Captain Cook to give it such a bad name. Foul weather occurs everywhere. Maybe he didn't think the name would stick this long.

dianne

those shots of the coast are astounding!
I'd visit that cape :)

Clytie

I've been to the Oregon coast just after a harsh winter storm - it was one of the most amazing trips I've ever taken!

I love your photos!!! Except now I'm jealous. :=}

Marilyn

I had to smile at the name of this beautiful place. In NZ there is a Cape Foulwind, and it is beautiful there too but when the wind blows...

Pat

Captain Cook sounds like a real downer! Great photos!

Lesley

People are always more interested when things go wrong - so no wonder Cape Foulweather and Dismal Nitch attracted attention!

Pam

I love your pics of the rocky coastline, Sallie. You two stay safe as you head eastward.

hugs,
Pam

TexWisGirl

i like your version better than his! :)

Penny

It is so good to hear that you have had blue skies, Sallie, even in Cape Foulweather. It seems like coastal towns always have the best of names.

Lady Fi

What dismal names... The place looks so inviting in these lovely shots!

donna

Happy for you that it wasn't as dismal as the signs indicate. Hope you have blue skies all the way to FL. Unless you want a few days to listen to the rain on the roof...one of my favorite sounds in all the world.

donna

Yogi

Some places are aptly named. We vacationed on the Oregon coast several years ago and loved it.

Hazel

More lovely photos/places-and continue a safe and happy journey!

Red Nomad OZ

Haha! Good old Capt JC, huh! He named a few places in OZ as well - Cape Tribulation, for example! He was either REALLY unlucky with the weather - or maybe just ran out of imagination!!
