Pam

Its a real treat to see White pelicans for a change. Browns are pretty but not as lovely as Whites gliding through the air in their traditional V formation.

Be well and Happy, Sallie.

Those are some gorgeous fellows. Love the diving pics and the one of him sitting there!
It's time for me to say it now: I wanna see one of them in the wild one of these days :)!

joo

Gorgeous photos, and the second one is simply smashing!

Great photos! I especially like the guy sitting on the boat rail. I LOVE pelicans. They seen to have personalities of their own.

LindyLouMac in Italy

How wonderful to get such great close ups of the pelican.

Annie

I love your shots ! They are so funny. These birds are so beautiful when flying ! None of them in France but at the zoo. Alas, they don't fly there.

Pat

Great shots! They are fascinating birds.

Hilke Breder

Beautiful birds! I am more familiar with the brown ones from trip to Florida. Would love to see more white ones.

CameraCruise

Fantastic shots of the pelicans!
What a beautiful bird!
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day.

Stewart M - Australia

Hi there - as Nikki mentions above our pelicans are much more like the white ones. Cant help but smile when you see them!

SM

Nick

greta captures of these beautiful birds!

Arti

Beautiful birds, both of them and so interesting to know how different they are in behaviour.. Loved watching them, esp loved the posture and gait of the brown one :)

Nikki

I never saw a pelican until I was almost 50 and moved to Australia. Ours are black and white and large. They seem to prefer to be alone, ... unless they are all cooped up the in the same SeaWorld feeding area. I have some wonderful photos of a bird twisted to scoop something off the bottom of the shalllow tank.
I have never seen a brown one. He looks adorable.

springman

Oh am I missing my pelicans from last summer now! The White pelican has officially become a Michigan summer bird. Yours sure are party birds!

Arija

Pelicans are such funny birds. We have masses of them here as well and they are the regional bird for the Myrray district all the way through a few lakes, to the sea.

Eileen

Cool shots of the Pelicans! They are fun to watch!

Carver

You took some fantastic shots of the pelicans.

Mick

Pelicans are always fun to watch - no matter which kind they are. I especially like the photo of the one sitting on your boat.

Hazel

Amazing to see the cheerful chappy on your boat! Do they become tame??

Boom & Gary

Great close up!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

JM

I love pelicans. The one below is awesome. Great shot!

Andrew

Wonderful birds to see.. I have been lucky enough to have visited Florida and seen Pelicans in the wild.
It's always a treat to see my surname turn up in posts in the USA... Beautiful images.

Andy

Brown Pelicans are my favorite birds! There were tons of them down in Baja during our kayak trip and I never got tired of watching them gliding an inch or two over the water, one after the other in perfect formation...

holdingmoments

Brown or white, such lovely birds.
Great captures. Love the party guy on your boat.

TexWisGirl

i love the brown guys! drew one once for a friend of mine for their florida condo. :)

(those roseate spoonbills are so cool! but the gators would freak me out!)

Michelle

Beautiful birds ... lovely that you got to see them in person and get such great shots..
