THAT KIND OF A WEEK

There were a lot of reasons why last week qualified -- in spades -- for a not-too-many-photo-ops kind of week in OUR WORLD.  

First of all, it was darn cold most of the week -- for here, not so much for the rest of the world, but you'd be surprised how 40 degrees and even a little lower can keep a bunch of snowbirds from doing their outdoor thing.  You can't get bored around here, cold or not, but I am not so good at taking pictures of activities with people (usually because I get so busy talking I forget to take any).    Here's a link to a post I did during a similar cold spell the first year we were here.

Secondly, I did have my second successful eye surgery last Tuesday ... that's me in pre-op with the surgeon. (I was surprised when the nursing assistant snapped this and even more surprised when the staff e-mailed it to me).  Obviously I'm already under the influence of the happy juice that relaxes you and makes you forget everything after this moment until you wake up in recovery.    

The other picture is me taking a quick walk yesterday  (I threw my jacket off just before Bill snapped the picture.)  I haven't been able to see well without glasses since I was about 12 (and not terribly well even with them for the past few months), so going without them altogether is an amazing experience.   

The third, and major, reason for few photo ops is that we had a fender bender a week ago yesterday.  (It was really a little worse than a fender bender and our first ever collision in all those years -- and all those miles and miles  -- of driving.)  (And NO I wasn't driving>). No one was hurt at all, not even scratched, but a lot of time this past week was taken up in dealing with insurance, rental cars and so forth.  Needless to say this was an experience we are not happy to have had and do not ever want to repeat, but we are grateful all of us are safe and grateful for having good insurance -- that thing you have to have and always hope you'll never need.

So now, we are looking forward to weeks of serenity and nothing but warm and fuzzy -- and sunny  -- photo-ops!

I had heard it was going to be cold in Florida. I have a friend visiting Disney World this week. I was thinking they picked the wrong week to go south. :)

You don't need photos when you have a good story. The eye op must have been a blessing. I believe they are not that painful either. It must feel strange not wearing glasses anymore. My friend had this happen too. Bad luck about the ding. Glad that no one was hurt

That doesn't sound cold to me. I also had a fender-bender last week, as a 17-year-old girl hit my car from behind while I was stopped at a red light, pushing my car into the truck in front of me. Luckily nobody was hurt but both bumpers on my car need to be replaced.

Congrats on the successful eye op Sallie. How easy it is for any of us to take for granted the precious ability to see. So sorry to learn of the car accident - whilst it's been a time-consuming inconvenience, very glad that no-one was hurt. As for the freezing temperatures - these too will pass!

Dont feel so smug about your monopoly of the cold. Here i sit, wrapped in a blanket 1000 miles south of the American border and I am still freezing. It has been a dreaful 10 days with cold and rain and even ice in places. times are rough right now in mexico and the volcano near mexico city is starting to rumble and smoke... and it is 2012.... and then there are the banditos.... cheers by the way. weather does change after awhile... but... what if it doesnt..omg just scared myself.
