FOR FLORAL FRIDAY FOTOS AND TODAY'S FLOWERS
***ADDED after Friday's post: Thank you to Nick (host of Floral Friday Fotos) who identified the flower. Here's a copy of his comment with a link to his source (and also click on Nick's name for a link to his excellent main blog):
Sallie, this looks like a Bauhinia purpurea or "Orchid Tree". See:

Yet another Florida flower whose name I don't know. (All help welcomed!) It is a vine and is growing in only one yard here in the RV Park. Nobody I have talked to knows what it is. But we all think its lovely.
beautiful flower! we have it here but i don't know the name, too.:p

Spectacular photos! We have the trees blooming here around this time of the year but I have not seen the vines.

Your captures are so pretty. If I'm not mistaken, this tree is quite common in southern China, but for some reason even when in full blossom it looks quite homely until you get very close to the flower. I've tried to take photos of the tree, but it never turns out interesting to look at. :-)

Gorgeous!
I've never seen this before.
Wish you a wonderful day.

Splendid flower - and the ducks in the post after are great as well.
Lots of things happening down here - traffic really being the least of my concerns, but on the night in question I just wanted to get where I was going. But the Moon did cheer me up a bit!

Sallie, It is a lovely flower and such a vibrant pink. Thankfully we don't have to know the name to still enjoy its beauty. Have a terrific weekend. Mickie :)

Love the full bright pink or fuschia color. It could be mistaken as a kapok flower, but Nick is right.

Oh, this is gorgeous. It reminds me of a clematis, but seems others have identified it. So tropical and stunning.

OK - problem solved by Nick! Well done , mate!
Maybe when I was in Papua New Guinea or up in the Cairns area of North Queensland, I did see these flowers blooming.

Hi Sallie
Well whatever it is, it certainly is pretty.
I was going to suggest a variety of orchid, but with the
background leaves, that was quick smart knocked on it's head.
Cheers
Colin
PS: A miracle!! It is NOT RAINING in Brisbane this morning - sunshine reigns supreme!
