An anhinga spreads his wings in the sunshine.
A swamp plant casts big shadows. I thought this was a water lily that hadn't bloomed yet, but learned it never opens any further than this. Sadly, I can't remember what else we learned about this plant -- including its name.

a while back, last year sometime...i did a post FILLED with all kinds of shadow pictures around the yard & property.
shadows are cool. mysterious.
OH and i didn't know about those water plants...i thought, like you...they just hadn't bloomed yet!!

The Anhinga looks like it's wearing a formal cape. :)
The wings don't seem to match the rest of its body. Striking color of the wings.

Nice shots. I'd love to revisit the Everglades, about 30 years ago I spent a couple of nights in a cabin accessible only by the airboats that people use around there.
