A few of the usual suspects as seen on a recent weekend walk -- for Stuart's Wild Bird Wednesday.
Our first woodstork photo op of the season. There's an ibis hiding out on the back branch as well.
A pretty little mockingbird enjoying the warm day.
Even in bad light, the cormorant is easy to recognize. (I don't know which kind of cormorant it was though.)
The turkey vulture looks like he's wondering where his next meal is coming from.
Not the greatest birding -- but a lovely day nonetheless. It was warm and dry enough to go for a walk in the swampy woods. Everything else is a bonus!
For great virtual birding, visit Stuart's site and click the links.
any day you can get out with nature is a great day to me...

Fantastic shots of the birds. I don't think I've ever seen a woodstork.

Hi there - I like the turkey vultures. Rather gothic!
On some (well many) walks my kids seem to to to too pleased with the prospect of going up hill!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

Lovely bird pictures, Sallie! Glad to know the day was warm and great for a wonderful walk around. My favorite here is the mocking bird, petite and adorable :)

Love the wood storks! Turkey vultures aren't the prettiest bird, but I do enjoy taking pics of them.

Interesting birds, Sallie. You live in a very beautiful country!
Thanks for your comment! I don't know if the part where we stayed in Tasmania was affected by the bushfires, because we were already on our way home when they started. I wrote to the owner of one of the cottages if they had suffered from the fires.I hope the people we met, are all okay.

Those big Wood Storks look so ungainly in the trees. The Mockingbird is pretty and the other two look a bit menacing.
In answer to your question:
No trip across the pond this year. They are coming over here in April.

Beautiful bird pictures ! You must be quiet far away, otherwise they wouldn't model like that :) !

Sounds like a nice day to be "out and about". Good photo of the woodstorks. Don't think we have those in Kansas. Mickie :)

Great bird shots. You have to wonder how those scrawney, skinny legs support the body of the woodstork.
You certainly have a variety of vultures in your area.
Cheers

Great photos of all the birds and the Florida climate sounds very nice - and not nearly so hot as it still is out here!

These are wonderful finds Sallie!
I like all of them from the sweet little mockingbird to the Vulture with the face only a mother could love. Wonderful composition with the fence post and grass!
