Three boats temporarily docked at Fort Myers City Yacht Basin last Thursday:
The NINA, the PINTA, and the ...
OH!ZONE (?) :
The Nina and the Pinta are replicas of the caravels Columbus sailed in when he discovered the new world. The boats, which are billed as touring museums, are docked at Fort Myers for a week. The Nina is said to be the most historically accurate replica of a Columbus ship ever built. (You can read more about the ships by linking here.) I don't know why there is no replica of the Santa Maria.
The Oh!Zone (our boat) is not a replica...it's just a well-used, well-loved boat. It was at the dock to get fuel. Sadly, a commodity today's boats need an awful lot of. We were on a short trip with the UpRiver Boat Club.
Thank you to the crew at OUR WORLD TUESDAY. Click the links and enjoy the best virtual travel on the web!
What a treat to see those boats--and to have your own!

You have to put flags on your boat too, Sallie ! You'll be like a princess visiting her distant domans...

Those boats seem so small to have been able to make those long voyages! I see there is an empty rear seat in your boat. I'd like to be sitting in it and cruising around with you guys...

Made me laugh, Sallie, the Nina, the Pinta, and the...Oh!Zone.
My parents retired early and took my youngest brother, then a toddler, with them to a shrimp-fishing village in Mexico's Baja Peninsula. He attended kindergarten and Grade 1 there, and spent 6 months a year there until high school (Sept.-Oct. in Canada, 6 months in Baja, May-June in Canada).
When he was small, he came home from school one day and told Mom and Dad, "Cristóbal Colón discovered North America in three shrimp boats."

It would be very nice to explore those two replica boats if they ever allow it. Well, I most love the Oh!Zone and explore the possibilities around the area, eh? Nice photos Sallie. Hope you're having a grand time out there!

Sallie, I love your world, love being coastal! I only see those kinds of sail boats in Tall Ships Festival.
P.S. I did find some wildflowers last Sunday, kinda tired, so will be posting it this week! Thanks for your inspiration!

Did you tour one Sallie?
I've toured the replica boats at Jamestown that brought the English colonists. It sure gives you an idea of the small space. I couldn't imagine traveling that far with so many people in such a small space.
Amazing the fortitude of those people.
I checked the link and there's a page for interested crew members. I can't lift 70 lbs and stand for a long time - no summer job for me. :)

I learnt about these ships at school ! Great to see the replicas. We sometimes have the replica of The Endeavour, James Cook's ship, come sailing through here.
My post this week is about waterfronts too.
Have a wonderful week. I am joining you through Our World Tuesday.

Love those caravels!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Interesting indeed. Just have wikipedia-ed Christopher Columbus and you can find all the information there.
There are replicas of the 3 ships in quite a number of places around the World.
The water of your marina is magnificently crystal blue clear.
