a stunning sky to watch. :)

Penny

How strangely beautiful this must seem when witnessing it, especially for the very first time.

Jenn Jilks

Lovely shots. Lovely to look at!

jesh stg

It would hard for me to sleep with daylight! Thanks so much for answering my questions!
That glacier must really been something to see (hope you had on your coat/mittens:)

Joe Todd

Is it any cooler in Alaska where you are?? Hot and humid here in Ohio

Lena Ericsson

Its like the sky is on fire! Beautiful!

Annie

So strange and beautiful ! It was the same in Norway a few years ago !

rainfield

Every hour looks the same, then the is no day or night.

Al

That's awesome - I've never experienced a lack of night.

Carver

Lovely sky shots.

Aimee

The colors in your top photo are SO beautiful!
Blessings,
Aimee

Love those pink skies!!! We found it hard to relax with so much sunlight...you have to force yourself to stop and sleep!!

orchid

So stunning to see these colorful sky from Alaska; what a great post for the 'Sky Watch'☆☆☆ Oh, but the midnight sun must a bit hard on our sleeping cicle and I can guess that It must feel weird not to have the normal night time.
Enjoy your Trip and Take Care, Dearest Sallie♡♡♡

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

June 21, the longest day of the year and my youngest son turned 49. Life is ephemeral isn't it? Just like the Northern Lights.

As for Pike's Peake, we had a car but elected to take the train. No kids driving, nor me, nor hubby. I gave up the thrill rides long ago.

Arija

How far north were you, did the sun actually set or just bounce off the horizon? We saw the midnight sun in Narvik in the north of Norway. The whit nights are quite an experience.

Hazel

Yes, almost 24hrs dayight. I witnessed this in Norway and on the Shetland Isles. It is almost the same in the Scottish Western isles too! The colours are lovely.

craftygreenpoet

The top photo is amazing! I love the long days of summer, when it barely gets dark

Reader Wil

Beautiful sunrises or sunsets?Well it won't make much difference, does it?! I remember the summers when we were in Norway camping. It was always so wonderful.
Thanks for your lovely photos!

Gorgeous shots of the midnight sun! The sun never goes down that far north for a few months - just like here in the north of Sweden.

Mickie Brown

Sallie, Absolutely gorgeous sky--what a treat. Enjoy your stay in Alaska-beautiful country up there. Mickie :)

Karen, Pixel Posts

Beautiful blush in the sky. How odd it would be to experience light at that time of night.

Ramblingwoods

Sorry that it rained.. Pretty sky colors

Gail

My first husband and I almost got transferred to Alaska and I worried about the daylight thing. Must throw off your sleep cycle quite a bit. Amazing and beautiful light after midnight. Man, that's crazy!

Linda

Mid-night! I would be up forever just to see those skies!!

must be incredible to experience this all daylight hours at least once in our lifetime.

Lindy

Wow, that midnight image is gorgeous! Alaska would not be for me, however. I have problems with it staying light until 10:00 p.m., here - I feel that if the sun is still visible, I still have time to get things done and it's not time to wind down yet!

Gaelyn

It has to be strange to have continued days of light.

TexWisGirl

all that daylight (and the reverse) would be tough, i'd think. :)

Pat

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the longer days, but not THAT long... Beautiful color when you finally got it. Nice photos.

Eileen

Gorgeous skies, Sallie. I would take some getting use to these extra long daylight hours.. Have a happy weekend!

sylviakirk

Dramatic colors and beautiful skies!! Hope you're having a great trip, Sallie!!

Jim

Beautiful.
