While still focusing on the Osprey (here) UP above the boardwalk, I heard a splashy disturbance below.
By the time I was able to focus DOWN, I'd missed the moment of the catch, but here's the splashing Anhinga -- now balancing his prey rather precariously.
He jumped around on the pilings some and tossed the fish this way and that. I thought sure it would get away. But no such luck (for the fish).
It's a stretch!
But he's going to get it all.
Poor fish! Hard luck being the bottom of the food chain.

Wow!. You still got some great shots. My heron shots are all standing perfectly still - nice but it would be neat to get some dramatic movement!

Great set of pictures - I seem to struggle to get herons and such like with fish!

Dearest Sallie; Good Morning from Japan♪ Wow; Yes what Great Captures of Anhinga(snake bird) having a fish! I googled the bird and learned that it's in Cormorant family. The picture it tossing the fish is amazing :-)
And for me, your last phrase "Hard luck being the bottom of the food chain" is really impressive and also educational. Haha, fishing lover husband stared each of your photographs for a while, p:-)
Thanks for your kind comments Dear friend♡♡♡ I am going to visit my cousin celebrating her son. Visiting you again after coming home.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

What a great series of photos showing us all how they eat. So many birds just eat things whole.

I am always amazed when a bird swallows a fish whole. Down the hatch. Nice series.

Great sequence of photos.
Part of nature that the predator becomes the prey.
Hard to grasp when it comes to our pets are exposed to such risks, but that is life.
Thanks for visiting my site.

A super series of shots. Wow they are pretty clever at fishing. They have to turn the fish so that it goes down head first then the spines don't stick in their gullet.

Sallie, What AMAZING photos--it is hard enough just to be nearby when something like that is going on, but to catch it with your camera is incredible. Nice work. Yes, all those flowers are blooming in my yard right now. I can always count on the iris, roses, and peonies to "do their thing" year after year. It is quite lovely right now, but they will all be gone much too soon. Hope all is well with you. Take care. Mickie :)
