It's the last of the Lake -- we've moved away to the City. These pictures were taken earlier this month while we were doing some last-minute moving chores. (Well, one of us was. I was busy taking pictures. Obviously.)
Even if we were staying out there in our RV, it would still be the last of the Lake -- for this year. It's really a man-made reservoir that gets drained every winter for flood control purposes. It is always hard to imagine that a month or so ago boats pulling water skiers were skimming over the tops of all these stumps.
Some Fall color across the Lake -- but the sky is awfully gray (especially since I'm planning to link this to Skywatch Friday). However, it is a true representation of what the Autumn sky looks like much of the time here.
A few wispy clouds, just so you know there really is a sky up there. This picture is focused toward the end of the Lake that still has water. Stumps will be showing up there pretty soon.
Linking to: SKYWATCH FRIDAY (thank you to Yogi, Sandy, and Sylvia); and to SCENIC WEEKENDS (thank you Gemma);
A beautiful series. The first picture of the lake is exceptionally pretty.

I couldn't find a post about you buying a unit in town. Does this mean you are staying there?
Posted by: diane | November 17, 2015 at 12:42 AM
I remember reading about this last time you were there. Bye bye lake.

City is good for something too.
Enjoy your new digs.
Peace :)

I know it was difficult to leave, but you made the right move said Dianne the city mouse.

HAhaha! You've got the best - AND most important - job: taking photos! Have a great week!!

Ah, the all too typical PNW gray sky. But then it does keep the place really green. Hard to believe the drop in the lake.
Posted by: Gaelyn | November 14, 2015 at 05:22 PM
The lake when drained and with muddy edges and pools would surely be a great place for waders and wildfowl watching? I think I would be delaying the city for a while and doing some serious birding.
Oh the lure of the city!Have fun Sally.

You are so lucky to have enjoyed shooting while one of you were busy doing last minute moving chores.
That's why we manage to witness beautiful parts of your world.

Beautiful shots!

I think I'd find that rather depressing - to see your lake disappear and all those stumps appear! I think you'd better get back down here asap! It was 60 degrees in Ocala this morning and supposed to get down to 51 tomorrow morning! Yea.

At first I thought the poles was birds :)

Someone had to take these, Sallie - I'm glad it was you.
I'm always amazed at how this lake transforms and recedes each year.

What a panorama, it is gorgeous.
Posted by: Bob | November 12, 2015 at 02:22 PM
I saw many lakes with low levels sure need some good snows this winter to replenish them.
Posted by: Sondra-SC | November 12, 2015 at 02:20 PM
When our local lake is low, I am amazed to see all the stumps..and wonder how many boats get holes in the hulls because of them as the water lowers. Pretty views.

Hello Sallie, our sky has been gray lately. The views of the lake are pretty, I guess you move was timed perfectly with the lake gone.
Happy Skywatching, enjoy your weekend!

Great captures as always, Sallie!! I always love Autumn because of the colors and I guess I see it as Nature's way of saying goodbye to Summer and Hello to Autumn, but whatever, it is a glorious time of year!! Enjoy!!!

Interesting it gets pumped every year. Beautiful views, Sallie! About your comment to my art note plein air - it happens every time when I go painting - people talk to me - maybe they think I live there, lol! The nicest is when kids come and watch, because they really look at what i'm painting:)
Have a great winter time wherever you're stationed (this is in Florida?)
