Mary Howell Cromer

Me too, me too Sallie, I would much rather take a nature walk then go shopping in a mall. I am so looking forward to being able to take long walks again. Your images are lovely my friend. Take good care~

NatureFootstep photography

the beaver looks very cool. As you mention, probably take a nap :)

Yes, you got every stage of rose growth, how cool and pretty. That is a lonnggg walk, good for you. I know what you mean about the algae, just began again here a few days ago but I found myself taking shots of algae too for contrast.

I wonder how many rabbit holes are hiding behind these beautiful Autumn colours..

Anni @ I'd Rather B Birdin'

Mmmmmm, the rose garden would be a special treat for me. I bet the fragrance just walking around was so pleasant!!

Love the autumn colors and the wonderful heron plus a special piece of four legged wildlife too.

As always, your participation at I'd Rather B Birdin' for the weekend is very much appreciated. Thanks for joining in.

PS...I don't think the hurricane was that detrimental to the birds in South Texas...it's just the damage surrounding that makes the areas inaccessible for us birders.

Hello, Sallie. I love your pretty heron and the cute beaver. The flowers are gorgeous. I would have to stop and check out this pond often for the wildlife sightings. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

The wildlife at the Delta Ponds is so nice and your urban walk is so lovely. As for myself, I can relate to you that railway station is within walking distance (about half an hour) but I tend to take a bus. I’ll walk as often as possible especially when weather is nice.

Michelle Banks

I love the herons...and your view on your urban walk Sallie....Michelle

The City of Eugene did a wonderful job ! I like a lot the napping beaver and your beautiful pink rose. Here flowers are still wonderful : pink and pale orange roses, white mauve or violet asters... with golden leaves all around.

You have so much wildlife there in Florida that it seems seamless. Botanical gardens are always on my list of things to do.

How fortunate you are to have such a pretty place nearby. I enjoyed our walk and the look of that Heron.

LOVE this post and admire that long and lovely walk home you took.
I often stop and watch the Great Blue herons when I see them around here. They fascinate me. Your shots are wonderful, Sallie.
This year many of our waterways are coated with algae. The deer were traipsing through the pond (more of swamp) lately and colors are just starting here.

Still beautiful, I agree much too nice to be inside.

Great shot of the Great Blue Heron. They fish the shallow waters of ponds and streams here in the Ozarks, but it's hard to get a good picture of them. You are living a wonderful life and recording it beautifully here!

Wild is always wonderful, no matter where found!

Wow, what beautiful and amazing photos! I loved them all! Thanks for sharing!

When I see your beautiful pictures I am jealous ! Outside it rains and it's stormy ! Awful !

Sylvia D.

Sallie, Having a friend who would rather walk than shop is a friend indeed. Good for you to walk home and find beautiful roses and birds as well. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Sylvia D.

I would enjoy the walk too if I am there. Great photos of birds and the beautiful rose! Have a fabulous day!

Beautiful place. Lovely photos.

Good for you doing so much walking, Sallie! That heron is amazing. They are such good fishermen I still have some knock out roses growing in my yard...I'll be sad to see them die off with the first frost.

That title really grabbed me, Sallie! You certainly did see a bunch of wild critters. Great to have these beautiful outdoor spaces near the city.

It looks like a nice place. Fall has gotten here faster than I thought it would. I hope it lasts a long time.

It looks like a great walk home.

Fabulous time of tge year. That rose is a beautiful colour.

Lea @ Lea's Menagerie

Love your photos of the Heron and other wildlife scenes!
That is a beautiful rose!

Lovely photos Sallie. The Great Blue Heron is gorgeous. No fall color here yet, but the temps have been noticeably cooler the last few days!

Bill Burke

Great to have such a beautiful walk inside the city limits. Love seeing the heron and the beaver. Great photos as always!

Penelope Puddlisms

Beautiful autumn is slowly inching into everything spreading its fall colors. Thanks for sharing your Oregon scenes, including the one of the beaver. Beavers are somewhat of an icon in my neck of the woods. However, although I've seen herons and roses, I've yet to see a single live beaver anywhere during my walks and travels. :)

i am forever chasing those big blue herons, your images are beautiful!! looks like a great place to walk - pretty roses and nice purple asters!!

i love autumn, i can't wait for the leaves to turn here!!!

That is a beautiful detour you took Sallie! Those roses are still so gorgeous and bright coloured. Beautiful wetland area too! xx

The Great Blue stare-down made me smile, the flowers were beautiful! All great photos to start my morning off with a smile. Thank you Sallie :)

Autumn is a great season, much better than summer. You shot really well, thanks.

Phil Slade

Your Delta Ponds looks and sounds so inviting and I can't imagine being able to explore such ana area of 150 acres. Handy too there's a shopping mall close-by to divert people away from the better things in life. LoL

Just watching the news this morning and the awful events in your country. It is really distressing and almost incomprehensible that nothing might happen to control guns, even after this.

Best wishes to you all.

Wow - what a great place to visit - the Heron is fabulous. And the rose garden, so pretty!!!! And the beaver right out in the open. Every time we think we are going to get close enough for a photo the beavers will run away. Yours seems tamer.

We were in Owen Rose Garden in late August. What a beautiful little spot in the city. We stopped in Eugene for a night during our PNW road trip in late August.

Lady Fi

Wonderful place! How lovely to be able to find so much nature near the town. And lovely shots too.

Sallie - so glad you saw a beaver and then showed it to us! Isn't it amazing he is thriving so close to an urban area? The rose is so close to me and so real-looking I can smell it. Thank you!

MaryBeth Schwartz

Great shots of birds and plants and a wonderful walk. Yes it was a fun road trip. Visited some horse ranches besides family. Always nice to be home it seems

Dear Sallie, thank you for your very kind words. They came at just the right time when I was feeling rather poorly! You are greatly appreciated!

Much rather take a walk at a nature center then in a Mall. Lovely photos. How fun to see a beaver!

Fantastic photography of the critters and those gorgeous roses! Happy Week to you ~ ^_^

All the photos are wonderful but I am a sucker for roses

So much beauty in that part of the country! Those roses are gorgeous. We have cooled down some and we're starting to wonder about our State parks and city parks...may try to go to one this week. Sweet hugs!

Love the heron wading through the lily pads:):) Beautiful area, Sallie. Have heard about Eurgene (probably because of the mall). Happy you walked home to catch all this beauty! The roses are pristine looking! Wishing you a lovely week.

Interesting information about the Delta Ponds. So nice to have such a nice place to walk and I'm with you ... lets walk outside instead of the mall! Looks like a beautiful day. Happy Monday.

What a lovely post with so many beautiful photos. Yes, a friend who would rather walk around the ponds on a lovely day is one worth keeping!
Hope you have a wonderful day.

William Kendall

I have quite a fondness for blue herons. They are such patient birds. The ones we have in this area may have already left for their migrations.

Thanks for taking us along on your urban walk. It's so good that cities plan for parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the midst of urban areas. We all can benefit by connecting to nature a bit more. Happy week!

Glad you made that walk and brought back all this to share with us! It has been many years since I've seen a beaver, see lodges and trees cut but not the rascal him/herself.

Hello, I love the images from your walk. Neat captures of the heron and beaver. I much prefer the nature scenery over shopping in a mall any day. The fall colors and flowers are lovely. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and week ahead.

That is a decent walk home. The heron is lovely. Nice photos.

Stewart M

Now that beaver is an animal I would like to see! Not much chance here I suspect!

Hope all is well.

Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

Great shots of the birds and flowers.

It's so good to see what was once an industrial site restored to nature so beautifully, love your outdoor mosaics, so much nicer than a mall!
Happy Mosaic Monday.

Thanks most sincerely for sharing another so wonderful post of yours, darling Sallie, I've been missing you so much during my break, sweet friend!
Wishing you a most lovely Monday and new week ahead,
with sincere gratitude

Beautiful photos in autumn colors <3 That pink rose is a wow! All the best!

So many beautiful things in your post today and the photos are great. Of course I think the pink rose is just perfect and I love the beaver too. The beavers were one creature that I never managed to see in all the years I spent over that way - Guess I was never in the right place at the right time.

Oh I like your urban walk. Glad that Eugene took over and preserved this area. Love the Great Blue Heron on the hunt...that's a super shot! And the beaver! I don't think I've ever gotten close enough to one of them to point a camera at it. Fall is on its way. We had rain today and a high of about 81. Whew! It's been a long hot summer and I'm afraid it ain't over yet!
