It is the wet and warm season in Southwest Florida. Very wet and very warm on an afternoon walk at Six Mile Cypress Preserve last week.
The magic of water was much in evidence.
(And not a lot else. It was too wet and hot for most birds and most people.)
So for another kind of magic, in honor of the day this is being posted, from the archives here are pictures of some of Nature's Mothers:
Burrowing Owl Family, Cape Coral Florida
Wood Stork Family, Wakodahatchee Wetlands, Fort Lauderdale
Great Blue Heron feeding baby, Wakodahatchee
Eagle Pasture, North Fort Myers
And from "our very own" Eagle Nest down the street, the beautiful Harriet and two of her eaglets.
And finally: Florida sky, water, and birding magic, from our March trip to Ten Thousand Islands.

Hey there, Harriet. What I thought was an eagle was probably a large hawk and that's the closest I've come to seeing eagles this year, an odd one for weather. You must be in pretty good shape to move around in the wet heat, it's been raining here for possibly ever and has put the farmers way behind. There's a strawberry truck we pass every week that's been so far out in a flooded field all "spring" that it seems as if it grew there from the ground, about all that's growing.
Kudos for being able to tell a wood stork from a blue heron.
In the last few weeks, I've yo-yoed back and forth from fireplace to ac until I finally decided to use nothing but the fan if it got Florida humid (it did yesterday, today it's chilly) I've got every season of clothing out which has lead me to getting rid of most of them.
Sorry I've been absent on the comments I'm in full PT and diet mode. Lost 27.2 lbs so far with a lonnnngggg way to go.

Just returned from Illinois and enjoyed the cool woodland walks. Here in Florida I cannot stay out too long under the sun, so we start our walks 30-40 minutes before sunrise.

That first mosaic does radiate hot and humid across the miles. Lovely cooling photo of the sea and colony of birds in flight in the last photo. Birds caring for their offspring is inspiring for your Mother's Day. (As you probably know the UK day dedicated to mothers
is earlier in the year).

While I enjoyed all your photos, my favorites are the ones from the cypress preserve. You captured the watery world where cypress grow and created a mood with your pictures. Gorgeous!
My post features a visit to #Seattle's Volunteer Park Conservatory.

Quite a range of birds from the cute owls to the not so attractive Wood storks. Enjoyed all the photos.

Wet and warm sounds very like a Queensland summer. The cypress swamp is not like anything have seen out here though- maybe further north in the tropics. The bird families are all lovely and perfect for right now. (It is amazing and quite beautiful what we can dig out of our archives.)

Yes … fresh water IS magic and as precious as the blood flowing through our veins. I hope we rise to the occasion and do all that is necessary to keep it deliciously drinkable for all of Earth's creatures.

Beautiful post as usual - if you think it's wet now, wait until July. I know you won't be here. Great shots despite the water.

Love the details you caught on your hot and humid walk! Like the turtle, that red flower, the mangroves, and all the birds! Wow, Sally, a keeper is the owl family - when do we get to see that - incredible! Smiled about the heron baby, one wonders what "it" is - quite different from an adult one:)
Are you going to keep this up every day or week? (I probably would already have given up)? Many thanks for sharing it with All Seasons and enjoy your week!

Sallie - I had to laugh at the picture of the turtle - does he think he's Superman? Or is he too trying to let off a little of the heat? Thank you for the tribute to Moms everywhere - a fitting post for Mosaic Monday!
