Not a lot of pictures from last week, but much to be thankful for. I'm glad for the return to Daylight Savings Time and look forward to late afternoon and evening walking time.
East Bank Willamette River Walk, March 2021
Our weather stays mild with little rain (that may not be entirely a good thing, but it is hard not to appreciate beautiful days).
I managed this too-far-away-shot of what I think are Greater Scaup. I know at least that they are different ducks from the usual Mallards. So that was definitely a good thing.
Neighborhood path to the river
We have stayed pretty close to home lately because we wanted to be able to jump quickly on any Covid vaccine appointment that came up through the County's pre-registration list. We will be able to cancel our names from that long wait-list, because Bill put his talents to work and found us appointments as soon as the vaccine became available to area pharmacies. One down last week, one more this week and then our two second doses in a couple of weeks. Closer-to-normal is on the horizon and I am grateful, in so many ways.
Meanwhile, I am thankful for life-as-usual, which is really not so bad at all, except without travel pictures.
There are quite a few ways to walk to the River from where we live. The last picture above this collage is one of those. That path winds through a lovely neighborhood. The collage is the not-so-lovely view from a different path. Not so pretty, but the quickest way to get there. The highway construction project pictured includes the building of a sound wall. Whenever I walk this way, I see birds and wildlife in the weedy area along the bank between the path and the wall construction. It's been kind of interesting to watch the project move along but the better part is always seeing birds. They don't seem to be bothered by the construction noise. I'm thankful for that. And also thankful that our home is not along the path. I'm sure the people who do live there will be grateful when the wall is completed.
Not an alligator
I may have been thinking about Florida as I walked because this fallen log reminded me of a sleeping alligator. Something we won't ever see here in Oregon. I don't exactly miss alligators, but I am glad I've had the chance to live where they do. But for this year during this pandemic -- and for many reasons -- I'm quite happy to be here in alligator-free Oregon.

Hello Sallie,:=) What I get from your post, is more than a few pictures, but the sense of gratitude that runs through it. It's good to be grateful for the small things in life, like going for a walk, and appreciating what you see, what ever that may be, ...
construction work, or an alligator log.
It's great that you have had your shots. I'm still waiting, although I do qualify, as I'm over eighty and was diagnosed with cancer last year. Americo has had his,and did not get a bad reaction, and we are grateful for that. Loved your post.:=)

It seems that there should have been a plan which of course there wasn't. So many people are having trouble signing up.. I am glad that you will be protected...

Lovely pictures, and yes the log does look like an alligator.
All the best Jan

Love the fountain shot. I too thought the wood was an alligator. I have felt a sense of relief after getting my Covid shot and I am not big on vaccines, but this is different.

Winter is hopefully over for good - love the fountain!

Hello, Sallie
Our weather seems to change daily, cold and warm. I am happy for the longer daylight hours. Pretty views of the ducks and the pond. Road construction seems to be everywhere, it is good to see our tax dollars being used wisely. So many roads and bridges need to be fixed or redone. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

I think the point is that alligators look like logs. That is very useful to them.
Nice photos.

That log sure does look like an Aligator. Glad you have started with the vaccination, ours is some time in the future. But we are lucky not to have any community infections in the country but there are some in Quarantine hotels.

I am also glad to have time to walk after supper. I am finally getting a Covid vaccine next week. After having Covid during Christmas I had to wait, even though vaccines were given to teachers. Glad you are getting the vaccine. Stay well and thanks for linking up.

Beautiful photos. Glad you will be getting vaccinated soon. That log looks like an alligator.

I love the alligator log! I got my second vaccine shot this week, so kind of a relief to get that out of the way.

I'm glad you have arranged for vaccinations. I love that you have a network of trails. Trails are great, networks of trails are wonderful.

Always enjoy your walks Sallie. Great photos! The log/alligator reminds me of our trip to the Everglades a few years ago. Happy to hear you have started the process. We should be hearing about our second shot soon. Like you we are looking forward to returning to some semblance of normality. Looking forward to warmer weather, a good start 😊

Hi Sallie, glad you guys have your shots almost done, I tried once to get an appt, but didnt so now I need to check again. Your warm blue sky days sound lovely...we had a few good days now storms and rain..but this morning I took a walk in one of our parks and saw a very big gator floating around. The gators will be in FL waiting on you when you can return.

You don't have to travel to find interesting things to photograph, especially the not-an-alligator!
Thank you for being a part of 'My Corner of the World' this week!

That log DOES look like an alligator! You're lucky to have water areas close to home where you can walk. We both get our second shot tomorrow, so I made a big pot of soup today just in case I don't feel like cooking. The sun is out, but we're nowhere near spring here as the snow keeps falling.Stay well!

Sallie, Thanks for sharing. No alligators very good. There has been construction across the back alley for a year but at least those guys have jobs is what I think. Have a great week. Sylvia D.

I hope the birds are able to coexist alongside the wall once it's finished!
Your mystery birds certainly look like scaup to me

I thought that log was an alligator too!
Congrats on the vaccine appointment, Sallie!

I am glad to read that you and your hubby have been able to get appointments for the vaccine. We are still waiting for ours. Who knows, maybe by the summer or fall, we will both be posting travel photos again?
Posted by: Laurie | March 16, 2021 at 12:53 PM
I'm glad you had the vaccine, Sallie! I felt the same way about the too-long waiting list on health sites and the easier local pharmacy availability. I'm also glad for daylight savings giving us longer evening hours. I'm looking forward to spring even though it is a long way away for our snow-filled March month. Where did your Colorado children move to?
Posted by: Pat | March 16, 2021 at 12:04 PM
My first thought was that log did look like an alligator. :) Glad everything is going well for you. Take care and be safe.
Posted by: bill burke | March 16, 2021 at 10:40 AM
I had to look twice at that log as I thought it was an alligator. You are fortunate to live within walking distance of the river. Always so much to see and enjoy, apart from the construction works.

Hello, Sallie
Congrats on the Covid vaccine appts. We are still waiting for our group to be called. The log does look like a gator. The views of the pond, river and ducks are beautiful. Take care, enjoy your day!

Yes, the log looks like an alligator. Fun to see.

Ha! That fallen log really does resemble an alligator. Glad you are finding contentment where you are these days.

When I am up north, alligators are the last thing I want to see and I certainly don't miss them. Glad you're enjoying Oregon this season.
Posted by: Carol | March 15, 2021 at 04:22 PM
I'm so jealous that you have so much construction to supervise. All I get nowadays is a neighbor getting a new roof or something else that doesn't require manly equipment.
Posted by: Alan Bates | March 15, 2021 at 03:07 PM
I like those kind of alligators, Sallie. :-) Hurrah for vaccines! Next week, we'll get out second shot. Slowly, but surely, we'll be seeing folks again.

We hope to drive over to an area that has alligators today! They are not my fav either...but still pretty neat to see. Love your photos and SO happy you have gotten your first shot! We have too! YAY!!!
Posted by: Lavender Dreams | March 15, 2021 at 08:33 AM
I am so glad you have appointments set and both vaccinated soon. It sure will be nice to not have to worry so much. For a split second I thought that last photo really was an alligator lol!
Posted by: Martha | March 15, 2021 at 06:56 AM
Happy to know you had your first vaccine ! My mother had the two, but for us we have to wait more than one month to receive the only one we 'll have. Happy too for your home which is not along the path...
Posted by: Annie | March 15, 2021 at 06:43 AM
I love coming along on your walks, but have little to show you just now. We are still in Lockdown, and I’m self isolating before hip surgery next Monday.
We have to wait 12 weeks for a second vaccination.
Posted by: Hazel | March 15, 2021 at 05:27 AM
Lovely blue skies! Glad you are enjoying some warmer weather and that you have had at least one of your vaccines. All done and dusted here and I went to eat in a cafe today for the first time in a year!

Early in the Morning with hot coffee it's fine reading a Post, make a walk through other blogs...
It's wonderful this hope in spring, indeed. And I understand that you walk around... meeting Alligators alias, what very funny thing.
...Happy MosaicMonday

Sallie - we have had a long streak of blue sky days - lovely right now, but we will all be worried about wildfires come summertime!!! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!!!

We had a couple of unseasonably warm days last week, but no blooms like in your photos. And today it was windy cold and there were snow squalls. March is certainly proving to be very unwelcoming to outdoor wanders here, which is disappointing. We finished our 2nd vaccine this weekend and looking forweard to an Easter visit with family in 2+ weeks...yeah!
