It's a real feast for the eyes around home this month.
From the flamboyant ...
to the delicate.
From the brightest colors,
To the softest pastels
All arrayed under clear blue April skies.
It's Springtime in Oregon.
We are grateful to have received our second dose of the Covid vaccine last week. It feels like we are on our way to almost normal. I am looking forward to a little travel, but a walk along the river reminds me to be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
Sometimes it is best just to relax and drift along.
One more smile for the week -- this picture texted to us from our son who is in Florida right now. That is their big beautiful dog Max (whom we haven't yet met) meeting a feral parakeet of some kind. Geoff said the bird flew down and almost landed on the dog's nose. I am sure the bird is an escapee, but it will probably do just fine in that sub-tropical climate. (I am reminded of the movie and book "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.)

The colours of spring are gorgeous, Sallie. I suspect that you have missed your annual migration to Florida, but Oregon seems to have many agreeable compensations. As for the parakeet, Florida has more than its share of introduced exotics, and not only birds as you well know. I wonder if out-of-state humans are considered invasive or just necessary for the economy!

April is so beautiful and then May appears and it is beautiful also. I just look towards beauty I guess.

Spring flowers are so beautiful, in so many varied colours. You've shown a wonderful selection of them in your world. Have a good week, and perhaps enjoy more walks along the river. So glad you have had your second vaccine.

Such a funny photo that your son took. Looks like the dog is totally transfixed on that parakeet! Congrats on dose #2. There is definitely a sense of relief afterword. I love all that Oregon color and blue skies!

We met the parakeet owner and showed her the photos. She’s been trying to get it back for several days now. She said it’s not friendly, but did have a big dog friend years ago.

Am loving your posts. Beautiful flowers and trees. Never get tired of seeing your pictures. Do Geoff and Lisa know that Max is a big hit on your blog? Really cute picture.

Beautiful shots! That bird is a cockatiel. Someone's pet that must have escaped. I hope he found a home for it. He won't last long out in wild. I have two.

Lovely colours of spring, Sallie. We have had our first vaccine (Moderna) but it will be early July before we receive the second one. Maybe one day we will all be free to travel again. I can hardly wait!

The dog and parrot are so cute, thanks for sharing them with us.

Bill and I are getting our second dose of the vaccine next week. We have already planned our trip to Corvallis to visit our son and daughter-in-law in June. Looking forward to it very much.
I loved The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (book)!

Wonderful signs of colorful spring! The two seem curious about one another. What an awesome picture of the dog and parakeet … and as the book shows, humans can be healed in some ways through involvement with nature and the fascinating creatures with which we share our world.

I'm glad you guys got the second dose. It seems like vaccinations are in high gear now. I read that 50% of the members of one of our two dominant political parties have no intention of getting the vaccine. Shaking my head.
I loved that movie about the wild parrots on telegraph hill.

Sallie - that is an adorable photo of the parakeet and the pup!
I am jealous of your spring colors ... we have had one day of Spring here and there, but as I type this, we are in the midst of a VERY blustery snowstorm. Sigh. Even I am ready for spring. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

It is so nice seeing spring photos from your area, Sallie, as all we are seeing here in Colorado is snow and more snow!
Posted by: Pat | April 18, 2021 at 06:31 PM
Wow, a feast for the eyes is an understatement, everything is so beautiful! As you know we sure don't see that kind of color and beauty much here in Florida. Congrats on getting your second dose of the vaccine, that's fantastic news. That last photo is adorable. Maybe that little parakeet had a dog friend before his great escape. Enjoy your Sunday evening Sallie. :)
