Today it is officially Spring!
Here in SW Florida, we don't see the usual flowers that early Spring brings to much of this hemisphere. Our Spring gold is not fields of daffodils but this flowering tree that blossoms beautifully for at least a few days this time of year. (As with the flowering cherry trees elsewhere in the country, even a light wind can strip the beautiful flowers pretty quickly.)
So far, most of the blossoms are still on the branches!
Ibis in Spring breeding colors stroll around the lawn here at the Park. I counted at least 20 on this particular evening walk.
It's called either a yellow Jacaranda tree or a yellow trumpet tree , depending on which Google Image site you believe.
This guy stopped to stare at me on his way up the tree trunk.
Thursday evening I took pictures of the almost full moon from our back porch looking East across the Canal -- the next day, early morning moonlight shining right through the window blind woke us up. (Our bedroom is on the West side of the house.) We never know what will await us in the morning here. Mocking birds, fish-crows, mourning doves, woodpeckers, or (now) morning moonlight have all served as our alarm clock. All of them start the day off with a smile. So much better than the kind of alarm you have to set the night before.
Here's a golden memory from last March, when we were in Oregon:
Thankful for Spring, wherever we are.

All so Florida beautiful. I saw magenta Jacaranda in South Africa. stunning. Great shots of your alarm clock.

Hello Sallie,:=) The large yellow Jacaranda blooms are gorgeous. It is a pity they are so fragile and can be blown away in the wind, but what an amazing sight they make whilst they are on the tree. You are fortunate to see so may Ibis in your park, a lovely sight, as is the squirrel and golden Daffodils. All your moon shots are great.Mine never turn out! :=)
Have a happy weekend.
All the best.

You took some beautiful moon photos. I'm seeing a yellow tree with yellow leaves...not sure what it is. Maybe even a bush grown big. Love this time of year here. Enjoy the weekend and the nice weather! Hugs, Diane

Even here in Michigan spring is struggling to awaken, and we have the earliest blooming flowers to enjoy, despite cloudy skies. I love the usual blue-violet jacarandas when I’m in a climate that they like, but I was unaware of the yellow ones — thanks for that!

The yellow jacaranda is gorgeous and the moon pics great. My bedroom faces to the east and I am awaken by the sunrise in spite of dark curtains. Not bad!

I am in love with that yellow jacaranda tree blossoms as much as the purple one. I'm seeing the yellow variety for the first time.

Great shot of the Full Worm Moon. I couldn't get one here because the sky was preparing to let loose with yet another thunder/hailstorm. And I do love the blossoms! We're only now getting very basic buds on the wisteria, and there aren't even any redbuds in sight. Just the daffies. The jacarandas I remember from my kidship in Taiwan were always purple, so the yellow is a surprise, and a delight. Happy spring!

The yellow blooms are like sunbursts. Your alarm clock definitely sounds more exotic than the usual kind. :)

Whatever the name of that tree, Sallie, it sure is a beautiful sight and did look like a tree of daffodils at first glance. Sadly, there are no blooms here in NH yet.

So much beauty in your photos. Happy Spring, Sallie.

hey Sallie, to answer your question about tourists using vaccine passes here in NZ. It's not going to come to that, our international borders are opening to tourists again, seeing as covid is pretty much everywhere here the govt will probably drop the mandates, passes, scanning in etc.

A yellow jacaranda tree? I've only ever seen the ones with purple blooms. Love seeing those Ibis. Happy Spring to you.

The yellow jacaranda tree is beautiful as are the daffodils. We have lots of daffodils in bloom round Edinburgh at the moment, but I've never seen a yellow jacaranda before!

What lovely photographs! The Yellow Jacaranda Tree reminds me of the beginning of the dry season when we lived in Panama City in Central America. There were also flaming red flowering trees, and even a lovely lilac colored one. What a beautiful place you live in. Enjoy your spring.

I'm sad that there are no yellow jackaranda around me - looks so pretty!
Posted by: Carol | March 22, 2022 at 11:14 AM
The tree looks like it’s wearing daffodil blooms. I can imagine a daffodil tree with a happy flock of ibis playing beneath it. The squirrel pops in to remind us not to forget him, the ibis shepherd. Seems to me, Sallie, that this isn’t the first time your magical captures inspired me. Thank you much. :-)

I'm wondering if our Ibises change colour like that - I've never seen them do it but maybe Ijust haven't been looking! We call them Bin Chickens here because they're always eating out of the street bins. #SharonsSouvenirs

How lovely. Flowers are out in the UK Midlands, but we had a keen wind this last sunny weekend. I was out in a winter coat and hat!!

That is a beautiful tree and it does look similar to a Jacaranda. WE have a similar climate and plants to Florida but i haven't seen a tree like that here. Our iBis look different too. WE also start our season's at a different date. Autumn started on 1 March.
