This is the dancing, singing fountain in the center of the Pier Shops at Caesar's, Atlantic City. 

This Casino and Mall were toward the end of our two-mile walk along the Boardwalk.  

Ironically, the Atlantic Ocean is only a few feet away from this man-made water feature. 

But who comes to Atlantic City to see nature? 

Well, we did, as we sat and enjoyed the view  below through the window at Starbucks. 

It was pleasant sipping a latte while enjoying a quiet oasis above the noisy of the Boardwalk.

(You can actually get views of the ocean all along the Boardwalk, of course, but they are kind of spoiled by signs and buildings.) 

 

 

We found the BoardWalk to be quite entertaining though, in spite of  -- or maybe because of -- its tawdriness.   And, it was fun to identify all the Monopoly Streets.

 It was a lovely day for walking.  We are loving the cooler Autumn-like temperatures.

 

 

 

 

 

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER STATE, ANOTHER FERRY

We stayed one night in Delaware near Lewes where we got on the Cape May Ferry. These ferries travel the Delaware Bay between Lewes and Cape May New Jersey.        Here it is coming in to the Delaware dock.  

This is a "bigger-deal" ferry than the last one we rode at Cape Hatteras.  There's this large modern terminal.  (The boat in front is a miniature model of the ferry.)

The real boat has two passenger decks above the car level and full service food and drinks (which we didn't take advantage of since it was before our lunch time.) 

We spent the whole voyage on the upper deck,  enjoying the slight rock and the sunshine and breeze, happy to be back on the water.

This tall ship is a reproduction of Delaware's historic Kalmyr Nikkel.  She takes tourists on Bay cruises, sailing from the Lewes Ferry Terminal Dock.  This is really the only thing besides the ferry that I found to take a picture of in the part of Delaware where we stayed.

Delaware is the only State besides Oregon that has no sales tax.  In Oregon (which is our former long-time home state), I don't think you can see much difference at the border between neighboring states.  Delaware seems to attract a lot of out-of-state shoppers to take advantage of its tax-free status.  We saw row after row of shopping outlets and discount malls.  People can walk onto the ferry in New Jersey and take a shuttle to these malls from the Delaware dock.
